Kalshi Cracks Down on Insider Trading Amid Scrutiny of Prediction Markets
Kalshi has suspended a former MrBeast editor and banned a political candidate after uncovering statistically improbable trading patterns. The enforcement actions come as the prediction market platform expands real-time surveillance capabilities to combat insider activity.
Artem Kaptur, who previously edited content for YouTube star MrBeast, received a two-year suspension and $20,000+ penalty after algorithms flagged his consistent wins in low-probability markets. Separately, a candidate was banned for five years after betting on his own election race while promoting the market.
The company has conducted nearly 200 investigations since launch, with two confirmed violations disclosed this week. Kalshi emphasized its upgraded monitoring systems now detect anomalous gains as they occur, reflecting growing regulatory attention on prediction market integrity.
